Blepharoplasty, more commonly known as eyelid surgery, is one of the most popular plastic surgery procedures in the United States, and for good reasons: it’s fast, effective, and can give a more well-rested and youthful appearance to the eyes. If you are unhappy with the appearance of your eyelids or the area beneath your eyes, get in touch with us today to schedule a consultation and learn how blepharoplasty can help.
Upper and Lower Eyelid Surgery
Blepharoplasty can be used to improve the appearance of both the upper and lower eyelids. When performed on the upper eyelids, the procedure can help to eliminate wrinkles and produce a more youthful and alert appearance. Addressing sagging eyelids may also help to improve obstructed vision, giving the procedure an added benefit.
Lower eyelid surgery addresses puffy and dark skin underneath the eyes. Focusing on this area helps to eliminate dark circles and bulging skin to better draw attention to the eyes themselves. When performed in conjunction, upper and lower eyelid surgery help to restore symmetry and can serve to complement surrounding facial features.
Does Eyelid Surgery Address Drooping Eyebrows?
Blepharoplasty does not lift drooping eyebrows. For this, a brow lift will be needed. If sagging eyelids and drooping eyebrows are both of concern, combining an upper eyelid lift with a forehead lift may be the best option. Some non-surgical treatments, such as BOTOX® Cosmetic, can also be used to lift sagging eyebrows, though only temporarily.
Blepharoplasty will not correct frown lines (in between the eyebrows) or crow’s feet (next to the eyes). BOTOX® Cosmetic, however, can. Many people choose to have BOTOX® Cosmetic injections following eyelid surgery to restore a softer and more youthful look to the entire midface. Other procedures, such as facelift surgery, and non-surgical options, including dermal fillers, can help to enhance your results as well. During your initial consultation, we will discuss all of your options to ensure you are choosing the best combinations for your specific concerns.
